The first man knocked thrice and entered. He surveyed the space, nodded in satisfaction to himself and took his place by the left window, facing outwards. As he stood looking at the beautifully landscaped gardens with mini waterfall and exquisite beds of dahlias and primroses, he heard another knock at the door.
Twice it rapped, followed by the gentle whoosh of the door opening and closing and then somebody padded over to stand by the right-hand window. This entrant also gazed out at the vista. The two men acknowledged each other with a slow blink, nothing more.
Seven minutes pased slowly. The sun cascaded into the room, warming it to such proportions that, in anticipation, the men had come dressed in their shorts and flip-flops. The men started to perspire; small rivulets of sweat ran from forehead to lips but neither dared dart a tongue out to cath them, for this was strictly against the rules.
And then, with neither warning or announcement, the door opened and the seductive rustle of silk was heard upon the floor, swishing and sashaying. The final participant came and stood in the centre window, raised her heavily made-up eyes to the heavens and said, "Gentlemen... the answer is yes."

Oooh, intrigued. More please.
ReplyDeleteWhat's the question???
ReplyDeleteI have several ideas...the next installment should reveal a bit more!
ReplyDeleteThis is a curious little piece. You don't know the question? Or trying to keep us guessing?
ReplyDeleteVery intriguing. I'm curious to see what the question is.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great bit of flash.
ReplyDeleteI think though unlike the others I don't have a burning need to find out what happens next. This little scene was too perfect, perhaps.
